The Marine Port Authority (MPA) has to ensure adequate knowledge of local waters, particularly some of the restricted islands and how busy the port is, foreign personal watercraft or boat driving licence are not convertible to Singapore’s local licence. Below are the 2 pleasure craft licenses available for any SZ or SZH vessel. There is also a third option, online self-assessment that can be taken for visiting pleasure crafts who also need to get a cruising permit, click here to apply.

  • The Powered Pleasure Craft Driving Licence (PPCDL) is required for driving engine-powered / jet-propelled (with SZ or SZH license prefixes) boats of less than 24 metres within the port limits (including jet-skis).
  • Visiting yachts (including Singapore-registered) can take the online assessment of eligibility to apply for a cruising permit.
  • The Advanced Powered Pleasure Driving Licence (APPCDL) is required for driving engine-powered / jet-propelled pleasure craft (with SZ or SZH licence prefixes) of 24 metres or more within the port limits.
