Not too far away from the jostling crowds and patrolled beaches of Sentosa lies one of Singapore’s (almost) best-kept secrets, Lazarus Island Beach (Also known as Eagle Bay, part of the Singapore Southern Islands.
Lazarus Island Beach is the most popular boating destination for charterers, jetskis, kayakers, and private boats, many might not know this but the 800m beach was totally reclaimed and built between Seringat Island and Lazarus Island in the early 2000’s by Singapore Tourism Board.
Visitors are advised to pack everything they need – including mats, towels, water and other beverages, and whatever you do, take it all the rubbish back with you as there are no bins on the islands. Once a small island on its own, today Lazarus Island has linked with other small islands including St John’s and Seringat Island making up a portion of the Singapore Southern Islands. Lazarus Island Beach is an 800m long coved beach of white sand, clear, and relatively clean water.
The island’s C-shaped lagoon has one of Singapore’s cleanest, whitest, and sandiest beaches – perfect for sunbathing away from crowds – the gentle runoff of sand allows for easy walking in the water without any strong currents.
Don’t be surprised if you see otters playing in the water, large monitor lizards on the rocks, schools of fish, and even the resident cats. You can now rent bikes and other toys on the island. Although it island permitted, this would be great place for a beach fire, bbq, fishing and camping overnight.
